Course Description

This one-day workshop is an advanced level course for SLPs detailing the treatment process for orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD). Attendees will be able to apply diagnostic and treatment considerations to their caseloads immediately and resolve OMD in their patients effectively and efficiently. A prerequisite of the course is completion of “Breaking Down the Diagnostic Process for Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder.”

Learning Outcomes:

1. Differentiate between symptom management, exercise programs and individualized treatment planning.

2. Explain the difference between oromyofunctional goals, objectives, and strategies and how to plan, prioritize, and coordinate treatment.

3. Discuss and apply oromyofunctional exercises, techniques, tools, and programs.

4. Integrate oromyofunctional therapy (OMT) into current caseloads.

5. Describe the process to complete patient objectives and goals, and successfully discharge them from therapy.
