Course Description:

This one-day workshop is an advanced level course for SLPs on how oral structure and oral function impact articulation, language, voice, swallowing, feeding, cognition, and general health. Traditional thinking and current research will be applied to typical clinical situations, school-aged, and adult populations.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Label craniofacial structures required for different articulation sounds.
  2. Explain how skeletal facial muscles respond to exercise and neuromuscular re-education.
  3. Identify areas of oral dysfunction that contribute to articulation distortions.
  4. Describe how oral motor function impacts language acquisition.
